Increase Water Efficiency in Your Home

Though we don’t live in a water restricted area (like California), it is always a good idea to make sure you are using water efficiently. Older fixtures and features were not up to the same standards, so if you have not replaced them in a while, you are probably not getting great water efficiency.

In a residential building, the easiest way to do this is to evaluate and replace old fixtures. For example, a few decades ago toilets would use about seven gallons of water per flush. Now there are toilets that use as little as 1.28 gallons of water per flush. If you do the math, that’s a household savings of over 10,000 gallons of water!

At Marines Plumbing, here are three things we can help you with to start increasing your water efficiency.

Replacing Toilets

As mentioned above, you can drastically reduce your water use by replacing an old toilet. If there is nothing wrong with your current toilet, it is not necessarily an expense you need to take on. But, if there is anything wrong with it or your water bill is always high, consider getting a newer, more efficient model.

Replacing Faucets

Another place you can increase efficiency is with the bathroom faucets. These are another fixture that has only gotten better over time. Now, we have low-flow faucets that reduce the overall water consumption.

Replacing Shower Heads

The final place to consider updating is in the shower. Replacing an old shower head is an easy and cost-effective way to reduce how much water you use. There are some great shower heads out there that don’t sacrifice pressure for water consumption. It is too easy of an update not to do.

These are just three of the ways that you can reign in your water consumption in the bathroom. At Marines Plumbing, we are happy to meet with you and help you pick out the right fixtures for your space. We are well versed in the latest and greatest models; particularly which ones will last and provide the most benefit. Call us today to start working on your water consumption!
